Hold Me Tight

A couples relationship strengthening group.

 

The group will meet on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30pm, start date to be determined. Cost is $200 per couple.

The Hold Me Tight program goals are:

    • Better understanding of romantic love- the pivotal moves and moments that define a relationship
    • Better understand their own and their partner's emotional response and needs
    • Be able to describe and control negative interactions/spirals that create pain and distance
    • Be able to shape the positive moments of reaching and responding that create a secure bond

Managing Anger

Managing Anger Group is a 9-week counseling group for people who are looking for ways to manage anger and improve their relationships.  The group will meet weekly, start date to be determined. Cost is $135.

 

The Managing Anger program goals are:

    • Learn to understand anger episodes, including: habits of thought that inflame angry feelings and unhelpful problem solving strategies
    • Build new skills for managing anger
    • Experience support and understanding

Jodie Edwards, PhD, LPPC

Director of Counseling

Jodie has been a partner with Center Pointe Christian Church since 2007 and the Director of Counseling since 2010.  She also serves as a professor in the Master of Arts in Counseling program at Cincinnati Christian University. She earned her MA degree in Counseling from CCU and her PhD in Counseling Psychology from Purdue University.  As a licensed psychologist and clinical counselor, she specializes in using evidence-based approaches for couples therapy, anxiety, depression, grief, parenting issues, divorce, and more.  Jodie and her husband, Chris, have been married over 20 years.  Along with their children they enjoy hiking, gardening, and traveling.

 

 

Stephanie Shell, MA, LPCC-S  

Associate Director of Counseling

Stephanie is a Professional Clinical Counselor - Supervisor in the state of Ohio, a certified Prepare/Enrich marriage and premarital counselor, and adjunct professor in the Master of Arts in Counseling program at Cincinnati Christian University (CCU).  She earned her MA degree in Counseling from CCU.  She is passionate about creating a safe, compassionate, and collaborative environment where clients can thoughtfully explore their unique experiences and problems.  Her clinical experience includes depression, anxiety, grief, couples and family counseling, and working with teens and adults.

 

Out of a passion for fostering healing within relationships, she has pursued advanced training in Emotionally Focused Couples (and Family) Therapy.  Her goal is to help build secure, resilient, and satisfying relationships between partners and within families in a non-blaming environment.  Stephanie and her husband, Dustin, were married in 2006 and began attending Center Pointe in 2008.  They enjoy life together as an adventure and opportunity for continual growth and connection with their beautiful daughters, Collette & Elena.

 

 

Marge Krammer, MSW, LISW-S

Marge Krammer joined the counseling ministry in 2004, when the church was called Lakota Christian Church. She grew up in Chicago and attended the University of Illinois. There she earned her Bachelors of Science Degree in Psychology (1987) and her Mental Health Worker Certification (1987) and her Masters Degree in Social Work (1989). She attained the LISW Supervisory designation in 2008.

 

Marge utilizes evidence-based approaches to assist those seeking help with anxiety, depression, grief, marital relationships, blended family issues, parenting struggles, questions of faith and other stresses.

 

She has been married to her wonderful husband, Erich, for 28 years. They have 4 children and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their first grandchild in spring 2017.

 

 

Kris Merrill, MA, LPC

Kris is a Professional Counselor in the state of Ohio, a hospice chaplain with St. Elizabeth Healthcare, and adjunct professor at Cincinnati Christian University (CCU).  She is a member of the Whitewater Crossing Christian Church and is a “westsider” in Cincinnati.  She earned her MS degree in Education at Eastern Illinois University, MA degree in Counseling from CCU, and has a background working in ministry, as an educator, and now, in counseling.  Her clinical experience includes depression, anxiety, grief, couples therapy, parenting issues, while working with teens and adults.

 

Kris and her husband, Rich, have been married for 35 years and enjoy life with their three adult daughters and their families.

 

 

Carrie Furry, BA, CT

Carrie is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Counseling at Cincinnati Christian University.  She joined the Counseling Ministry at CPPC as an Intern in August 2016.  Carrie enjoys working with children, youth, individuals, and families.  She has a heart for those who are struggling with anxiety, depression, and other emotional difficulties.

 

Carrie approaches her work with compassion and understanding and seeks to create a safe environment to help clients explore the source of what they are experiencing.  Her goal is to empower her clients to create change and works collectively with them to implement strategies focused on improving their quality of life.

 

Carrie and her husband, Blake, have been married for almost 20 years and are enjoying the journey of life with their two teenage children.

 

 

Linda Cramer, BS, CT

Linda Cramer earned her Bachelors of Science in Psychology with a Christian Counseling minor from Liberty University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2015.  She is currently pursuing her Masters of Arts in Counseling from Cincinnati Christian University.

 

Linda is an active member of her church, Grace Chapel in Mason, OH, where she and her family have attended since January 2000.  Linda currently serves there in the Stephen Ministry, which is a lay helping ministry designed to support people who need a caring person to walk with them through a difficult time such as grief, divorce, loss of employment, relocation, etc.  Linda was also a Women's Bible study leader for over 10 years and considers the Scriptures to be the source of wisdom for all aspects of life.  She is passionate about her relationship with Jesus Christ.

 

Linda and her husband Dan have been married for 35 years and together raised 5 children.  They are eagerly expecting their first grandchild in February.

 

Counseling Mission

The CPCC Counseling Ministry carries out the church’s mission to serve others compassionately.  As a group of believers who have experienced the radical power of God’s love, we use our professional skills in order to help people experience hope, connection, and mental health.

 

The Center Pointe Christian Church Counseling Ministry provides therapy and consultation services to members of the church and local community.  Counseling is offered for children, teens, adults, couples, and families.  Diagnostic assessments, career counseling, and premarital counseling (including the PREPARE assessment) are also available.  The counseling staff also offer group therapy and workshops on martial enrichment, family relationships, parenting, mood disorders, and more.

 

Our standard fee is $75 for a 45-minute counseling session. The Center Pointe Counseling Ministry is committed to making counseling affordable for CPCC partners and community members. If you have concerns about the ability to pay, please let us know as a limited number of reduced cost sessions may be available.
